Thanks Leigh! I'm combining a handful of ideas I've explored here. In the Surveyor Corps story, "Discovery", there's a similar tower but I called it a "lighthouse". And something about urban planning, I've wanted to do something where the design of cities on new planets *mattered* to the story. So, this is a good prodding to explore these ideas more fully! (I don't know what's in the tower but I probably should figure that out before I write about it LOL!)
Oooooh. So the question really is, who built it, where'd they go, and are they coming back? Also, if they do, what kinda mood are they going to be in? I really want to know now. :)
There's a couple buildings I'm fond of, in a hometown way: one is currently known 400 West Market, it's the tallest skyscraper in Kentucky. I call it the nightlight myself. Terrific views.
I don't dislike architecture. :) I'm not an expert; I feel like I know more when I don't like a building than when I do. I don't mind your glass and chrome and all, but I hate the new blocky gray style that seems popular now in my area. Anyway, so it goes.
I've seen Niagara Falls, but I don't think that counts...
I'd actually love to see more of this story if you ever consider adding to it. What's in the tower?

I hope it's something scary. 😉
*WRITING NOTES FURIOUSLY*
1. This is a super tough question. From Cathedrals to skyscrapers to bridges, there are too many choices, lol.
2. I love architecture. If I could re-do my higher education, I wouldn't mind majoring in architecture.
3. Apparently, the Leaning Tower of Pisa and the Colosseum is considered wonders of the world, so the answer is yes.

Maybe they never actually left...
This is how you threaten a writer without using violence. Keep dropping good ideas such that NOT writing this story becomes painful....
I'm such a monster.
My God. What have you done.
Well, I'm sure he'll get revenge sooner or later.
