Oh, this is fascinating. The conversation implies that the bookseller knew him, perhaps as a frequent customer. Had they made some sort of deal in the past? Were they just friends on unrelated business? Is the old man THE guy or a guy in the business, so to speak? I love it! Very Adventy!

1. We've already started an Advent routine with a Jesse tree and nightly devotional; I've got two Advent devotional books too, one from Magnificat and one from the Little Books company. Beyond that, one thing I'm definitely looking forward to is Lights under Louisville: there's a system of caverns near here that they deck out with Christmas lights and decorations and they set it up so you can drive through and look at them all from your car. We went last year and it was MAGICAL.

2. I don't know if I could pick a favorite; The Letters from Armin were awesome, The humbled hero story and the last laugh were both so good. Maybe the humbled hero, but that's my own bias towards superhero stories, and because I love the counterintuitive twist of it.

3. The Captain America movie, maybe? Thunderbolts? The various Audible audiobooks that I plan to work through: I live in hope that Robert Caro will finally finish the last of his LBJ volumes and then maybe get it out there so as to finish the series. Andor season 2 is coming out, and if it's as good as season one it'll be a treat. My new job might have a fantasy football league and I might get into that. ... I don't get out much. :)

That is EXACTLY what I will be doing. Throwing snowballs in the streets. Old men will shout at me “what day is this”, and I will tell them “tuesday” and throw snowballs at them.

Heeheehee. You better do that. If we get snow, I'm going to make a snow angel. It will hurt, because our yard is all tiny rocks, but I'll do it. And the old men will ask what day it is and I'll say Scoot Day!

Cleverrr. I like that the boy in the shop also saw the “customer”

How are you going to spend your December? What are you looking forward to?

Not much. I am hosting for Christmas which is great fun. Not a big gathering, only 7 of us but will be first with my daughter which is exciting (not that she will remember but there will be photos to embarass her with in the future). Looking forward to singing carols too, and midnight mass.

Do you have a favorite Gibberish story from this past year? Let me know in the comments!

I need to read a lot of your stuff from this year. 2024 vanished for me from the summer onwards due to health and newborn so got a lot to catch up on. Having a scroll through though and I'm looking forward to a great deal of what you have written this year :)

What’s something you’re excited about in 2025?

The resetting of things to 0. Setting new goals, likely the same as the old goals but now with more knowledge on how to tackle them. That 2000 words a day is still in my sights, haha.

"Where we're going you don't need a bag..."

It's weird how leaving the ending somewhat ambiguous gives it a certain mysterious appeal. But if I had written it..."You're dead, old man," said the well dressed man.
