The Gallery
In marbled halls of memories
Lurks amongst earthen poverty
Free entrance to the arts within
Hidden vagrants yearn for warmth
I strolled with father hand in hand
Saw classics painted more than grand
Observances I don’t understand
Now aged, I recall
Once vacant rooms, now full with crowds
All walks of life are welcomed in
Wondering of minds great thoughts expressed
Within this hallowed stage
In awe, meandering, take note
Of masters’ magic brushes stroke
Across each canvas all the while
Time stands, prompting a smile
And as the years must each march on
Shall generations realize
The classic wisdom held within
A painter’s tortured mind
Thanks as always
