Dear Jason,
What a blessing to hear from you! Peace! An end to the fighting! What news! I will eagerly await the broadcasts.
Elevating Maristo to a Duchy feels like a savvy decision—no longer yoked to the Duchy of Legrange, they are free to operate themselves as they see fit, and can make such arrangements as avoid conflict with Midlands or any other lands. I am sure this infuriates the Count of Midlands, but in fairness he did instigate most of this conflict and bore none of the costs. The fighting all happened on the Maristo islands, and the Duke seemed unwilling to admonish him.
The King appears invested in peace and well-being in perpetuity, which is a good sign. I hope his measures take root and lead to long lasting peace.
It’s my pleasure to inform you that Catherine and I were married on the 10th. My parents did not attend. Mary could not, and Ella was indisposed. So a small gathering of what friends were willing to be seen with me and the Tark family gathered and Catherine and I were married. I’ve renounced my title formally, so that is that. The House Tolor will, through my bloodline at least, cease to be a Great House.
As soon as you are officially returned to your barracks and eligible for leave, please come visit us at the Tark estate. I have told (my wife!) Catherine so much about you and she (my wife!) is excited to finally meet you.
I eagerly await news of your visit! I give you no choice in the matter.
Your loyal friend,
-Armin
