Note to self: don't upload brain into computer. This was a great story, and I loved when the real doctor realized he was in the computer. I'd be upset too, honestly.
I think that if you asked me in 2013 when we'd have LLMs like we have today, I would have boldly guessed 2023. If you had asked me in 2015, though, I might have said 2030. If you asked in 2017, I might have guessed 2035 or something. Things didn't look great for a while, but now all of a sudden, they do.
That's funny, but also a great observation! The farther we were from it, the closer it seemed. Once we started getting into the technical weeds, it seemed farther--and then it was here.
I was really, really into this space back then. I guess I still am, but it's more a component of how important AI is to everything right now. The moment of change is certainly upon us, whether we're ready for it or not!
Thank you!

“MONDAYS AM I RIGHT?”
“I do not understand”
I can only imagine how far off this felt in 2015.
Actually, I remember how far off this felt!
I was kind of laughing to myself when I found this. "Conversational matrix"--psh that's impossible!

">I AM OPERATING NOMINALLY.
>You are operating better than nominally.
>UNDERSTOOD.
>Are you happy?
>I AM OPERATING BETTER THAN NOMINALLY." - This gave me a good laugh.
"... all wall furnishings were kept to ensure a standard environment." - Doc Eddison has become the machine...
Excellent tale, creepy and the hints were subtle. Bravo!
Thank you! Glad you enjoyed haha!
