Oh, this was beautiful. I've always loved looking up at the stars. I don't know that I could pick out any, except maybe Orion and the three stars in his belt; I need to start working on that.

This is beautiful! Over the last year or two I’ve been learning the stars and constellations, so I have a number which I consider my star-friends, and I’m always happy to see them.

I love this! Orion was my first friend in the skies as well—I think he was for many of us—and so much of this affection felt familiar and warm. Thanks for sharing!

Betelgeuse has always been my favorite, since long before it became a household name, sort of. I remember an astronomy book I got for my birthday many years ago ago, which had a graphic comparing the relative sizes of the planets to the sun. And at one side was a straight line, representing the red giant, Betelgeuse.

I know almost nothing about astronomy, but I started furiously reading about Betelgeuse after reading this story!
