I do sometimes have to rein in my imagination to focus on something else, but it's usually fixed by jotting down whatever it is, and then resolving to give it my full attention later.

This is evergreen advice! Lots of value in getting stuff out of your head and on paper!

I think so, dude. It really really REALLY helps me come up with interesting stuff to write, too.

BYRON THE BLACKPAGE! Now, that’s a scoundrel’s name if ever I’ve seen one. I’m dying for some backstory on his exile.

This series of exercises is building up to just that! He's one of my favorite characters and I'm dying just as much to let him out! In fact you've given me an idea for next weeks exercise...

Love to see what you’re doing here Scoot. I’m very excited to see where this goes.

1. I still have a longtime family friend who is a great storyteller. He is also a major nerd for the local history of my small hometown. It’s a true blessing to hear a great orator of story.

2. I have to rein in my imagination during work all the time. Especially since I’ve started to write fiction.

3. Favorite travel snack might be those Belvita Breakfast Biscuits. My wife discovered those for us. They’re very filling on the go and pair well with coffee. We’re early-bird travelers so we need all the breakfasty things we can get. The grocery store Publix makes killer scones which we used to get before trips quite often.

Thank you, Derek! Me too, honestly 😂

Those Belvita Breakfast Biscuits are no joke! They had them in a vending machine at work when I was still in Virginia and they were a fine treat. I'm all about early-bird traveling--leaving somewhere at oh-dark-thirty and arriving with daylight left, feels like you weren't traveling for so long.
