My instinct would be to help the people under attack; on the other hand, once the guy started talking about rebels and an emperor, my antennae go up, you know? I'm conflicted, honestly. Comes of studying poli-sci in college, I expect.
I really enjoy your writing exercises; I generally have very little time for writing, and when I do, the prospect of sitting down and jumping back into the novel that I haven't touched for weeks feels...daunting. I spend most of my time just trying to get my wheels turning again. I'd like to try employing more exercises like this in my daily routine...I think I could spare ten or fifteen minutes to work those muscles! Then, maybe, when I have a larger amount of time available, maybe I'll actually be able to make some progress! And I think I would have done as Timmy did and shooed away the sparrow-mounted attackers. As for a meal after a hard day's work...hmmm. Does a chocolate milkshake count as a meal?
Let me let you in on a secret. I started Gibberish in January. When I started doing the writing exercises, I needed to google for prompts and ideas to get me started. Somewhere between then and now, I stopped having to look up prompts, the ideas come easier now that ive got the wheels moving. I definitely think theres advantages to just shaking the cobwebs loose and getting the writing practice!
Oh, and milkshakes count for sure! Yup I checked with management and they agreed!
I liked this a lot, the concept of a tiny faerie battle - significant for the combatants, almost trivial for a human child - is an interesting one. I look forward to learning more about the Fair Folk!

Good thoughts, all! Definitely hard to know without getting into magical poli-sci!
The best kind of poli-sci, honestly.
