I like that you left the night-crawlers to the imagination. The name is evocative on its own. Yeesh. I wouldn't stay there either.

1) I like sunsets, even if sometimes they remind me of the sky in that "Dinosaur" movie Disney made, the one where Aladar and the lemurs were watching the sunset on their little island...AND THEN CAME THE METEOR.

2) I did not, sadly. My wife got great pictures, though, with her phone.

3) Once back in college I stayed in a Motel 6. It was cheap. Bad choice. The wi-fi didn't work and there was an odd stain on the carpet. I didn't do that again.

Eek. Thank you, next!

1) I like sunsets more. There's something about winding the day down with a beautiful and colorful view.

2) No :')

3) One time I drove from FL to SC with my cat, and an awful accident on i95 kept me from leaving the state. I had to find a hotel that allowed pets at the last minute. I'm glad I could find one, but both KitKat and I were uncomfy the whole time. She hid in a crevice of one of the beds for most of our stay. There was a faint smell of cigarettes, and it just didn't feel 100% clean. 0/10 would not recommend.

1. Sunsets for sure. AZ sunsets are :chef's-kiss:

2. I didn't catch any of the auroras, however I was able to see one when I lived in Finland. It was awe inspiring.

3. I would say SLMO. I went there in June and the humidity made me cranky.

This is great stuff as always. Here’s what I did.

Cotton Candy

Vern sat in his deck-chair overlooking the elevated back patio. “Hon,” he called in to Peg, “I went ahead and bought those tickets for tomorrow.”

Peg had been waiting for a perfect weather day to take their granddaughter Abigail to the theme park.

“I wish you asked me,”Peg replied with a practiced absence of exasperation, “Weatherman says it’s gonna pour.”

“Those Brylcreemed college boys.” Here Vern went off on a familiar rant. “They are historians not prognosticators as advertised. They wait for it to rain then adjust their projections from zero to 100 percent. Just look out there.” He pointed past the deck’s railing to the horizon where the heavens were roiled with dancing bubble gum swirls. “Red sky at night, sailor’s delight. Guarantees a nice day tomorrow. I’ll take the Good Lord’s handiwork and centuries of seafaring know-how over any stuffed shirt in a studio.”

Peg had seen the nightly news, unlike Vern who cast a stink-eye on those proceedings equal to his disdain for the meteorological. He had missed the report of a local factory fire spewing eerie pink haze, no doubt as noxious as it was visually arresting.

Peg quietly packed the rain ponchos in her backpack for tomorrow.

Glad to hear you can get back home. That's gonna feel nice.

Interesting story, too. It was like a peek into a larger world.

1. Sunrise, I am west of my nearest parish church and sometimes go to an early daily Mass so to see the bell-tower against a sunrise is picturesque.

2. Too urban in my immediate neighborhood.

3. Anytime I am in a hotel room with 3 kids I am pretty ready to leave by the end of the stay (feels like we are living in each other's pockets), no regrets though.
