1. Interesting, depending. Mushu in Mulan, hilarious. Smaug in The Hobbit, awesome. I haven't seen the Hobbit movies so I wouldn't know about that one.
2. I do, if I'm safe. Rain on the window, lightning in the distance, oh, that's fun. When the power goes out and you're worried about tornadoes, not so fun.
3. Mountain Dew and ice cream. I'm a simple guy with simple pleasures. :)
1. Interesting, even when they're tropey/trite. Something about giant lizards that can fly and breath fire just refuses to strike me as boring, no matter how often I see it.
2. Who doesn't? It's the right mix of fear and awe. I would never seek one out, but when I'm caught in a storm (of any kind) I can't help but stare in slack-jawed wonder.
3. Hershey's kisses. We went through an apocalyptic blizzard one uear when I was a kid. I distinctly remember staring out the window and watching the snow and trees tumble sideways, while digging through the communal candy bowl, pushing aside crunch bars and tootsie rolls until I felt that comfortable, conical, foil-wrapped chocolate treasure.
FUN! I. love. dragons. I know, I'm basic, and there are no bad dragons to my mind. But make them interesting in a new way. I love this challenge and I will be thinking about it all day.
I'm generally put off by dragons in any story now. It was all fine and good in ASOIAF, but it's just become mega tropey, especially the notion of riding them. I was mildly curious about what all the fuss was about Fourth Wing, but then after a few pages, nope. I slogged through Priory of the Orange Tree, which had some merits, but the beginning trials for Tané felt pretty cringe due to just peddling tropes. I'm probably an outlier for generally disliking that book.
When I was a kid there were a bunch of "Dragon Riders of Pern" books by Anne McCaffrey around my grandparents house. I never read them, but they intrigued me-- I wonder if those hold up to the flood of contemporary dragon riding? Sounds like you and Kay Moulton are of similar mind on Dragons though!
This challenge of taking a trope and making it impactful again is a fun one! I wonder what other tired tropes can be reworked?

Man your answer for #3 gave me nostalgia for things I have never experienced! What a great memory--and a great candy for it 😂

Super fun story, thank u!
Thank you so much for reading! I am glad you enjoyed!

That's cool, I never read those, but they'd probably be decent given the time.
Yeah, interesting challenge, good work :)
While dragons tend to have tropes, like so many other character types, I wouldn't say they are a trope.
This is a great way to put it!
