What is this Gibberish?
This is my gibberish. I am Scoot, and this is where I publish my two headline universes: Sandbox Earth (sci fi) and Blackpage (fantasy), though I also write Other Stuff. I’ve been writing basically my whole life, but starting Gibberish in January of 2023 was the beginning of my career publishing for an audience, and I have loved every second.
What should I expect?
Every February thru June is Sandbox Earth Season where I promise to publish a headline story in the Sandbox Earth Universe and Flash Fiction that’s either in the universe or adjacent in Speculative or Horror genres.
Every July thru November is Blackpage Season where I promise to publish a headline story in the Blackpage universe and flash fiction that’s either in the universe or adjacent in Literary or Historical genres.
Everything I write that’s not in Sandbox Earth or Blackpage can be found in the Exo-Canon.
I take a break from writing and publishing every December and January.
Other than these headline stories, I publish some other stuff too!

About Me, But For Real
You’re right—sorry. I’m Scoot. A Pseudonymous author writing here on substack. I keep a pseudonym so the focus is less on me and more on what I write. I care a lot about my writing, and I’ve put a lot of work into learning how to write well in my time on substack, and I’ve learned a lot from talking to this community of wonderful people.
I write Catholic Things at my other publication,
, and I consider myself a “writer who is Catholic” more than a “Catholic Writer”. I like to explore the messy, fallen space of real life, and whatever genre I write in I think that’s something you’ll find. I’m an accountant in my day-job, which is boring enough that all my creative energy goes here, and it keeps me gainfully employed so I can put food on the table to sustain my writing.I love writing real-feeling characters and real-feeling stories, and I hope I deliver on that for you here at Gibberish.
