I've got to say, what I've always found the most funny is the combination of unusual things, weird stuff, you know (not to plug myself, but as an example, the Malpracticycle used by the Malevolent Med-Student, one of my characters. That line made me laugh). And this, the Eldritch Mole, this was just that; it was incongruously terrifying and hilarious.
I need to read more Lovecraft: I've only read the Call of Cthulhu, and only once full through I think.
This is ridiculous and hilarious. Glad that the imminent molepocalypse is seeing the stories it deserves!
I have started reading Lovecraft this year. Started with Nyarlathotep and Colour Out of Space, will be moving onto Shadow Over Innsmouth next. If you want to read Lovecraft you can find most of his writings here - https://www.hplovecraft.com/writings/texts/ - including letters and essays. One of the essays is about writing weird fiction, the how and why of it.
Cannot wait to see what other inspirations you find for your Crunchs!

"incongruously terrifying and hilarious" is just the perfect description for it. Thanks Michael--and thanks for inspiring this haha!
I'm wondering if I were to write about an eldritch mole, who would be best to deal with it: an angel, a superhero, or...something else, maybe? hm.
I CAN'T WAIT WHATEVER YOU CHOOSE!
